Ms Emily Katz, LCSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Are you and/or your family struggling with depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder? Do you have a child labeled "oppositional defiant" or "ADHD", learning disabilities or autism spectrum/Aspergers? Does your child seem to have low self-esteem, or does she "cut" or harm herself? Is your family having a hard time dealing with divorce, or struggling with parent-child conflicts?
It is my passion to work with children, adolescents, adults and families to help build healthy relationships. I can help you and your family work on managing your child's behavior in a positive way. I can help you develop coping skills to ease symptoms.
Rather than focusing on your problems and weaknesses, I like to focus on your abilities, assets, strengths and resources. I am trained in systems theory, so that I can help you understand how your or your child's social environment can be a part of causing, as well as healing, problem behavior. I can help you change any unhealthy thinking and behavior patterns. When I work with children I often use games and hands on activities to teach coping skills.
I believe that it is important for people to use their resources and relationships for support. You do not need to be alone with your challenges. My goal is to help you become your best self, and to help you bring your family closer together.
